What are the rules?
As this is a self-scored competition, we want to ensure the rules in place are clear. It is the competitors responsibility to familiarise themselves with the rules before competing.
Any infringements could lead to disappointment or disqualification with staff judgment being the final decision.
Rules are in line with IFSC (https://cdn.ifsc-climbing.
- Please be honest and record all of your attempts. An attempt must be recorded immediately after all points are off the ground regardless of progress.
- ‘Dabs’, using any surface outside of the taped area or holds of other colours to the problem currently attempting will count as an attempt.
- All climbs have marked starting holds, these must be taken under control and in a stable position for the start to be counted.
- All features and volumes are in unless stated otherwise by staff verbally and/or by tape.
- The route can only be considered completed with two hands on the final hold, in a controlled and stable manner.
- Any routes in top out areas can only be completed by ‘topping out’; two feet on the top of the boulder (hands above head)
Please note – there will be no climbing during the day without entry to the competition but you can spectate all day for free!
RAFFLE!
If you don’t want to enter but still want to win some awesome prizes, then you can come and watch on the day and enter our raffle! Raffle winners will be announced at 5pm! This is open to everyone and we’ll have some amazing goodies for you!
I’ve never been to a competition – How will it work?
Qualifying – 10am – 5pm
If you’ve been to one of our competitions before, this bit will feel similar! On arrival you’ll check in and be given the *special* griptonite code to allow you to enter the competition! We’ll have routes set up around the centre (With brand new holds and holds from Kong Holds too!) and it’ll be up to you to find the routes you want to climb (all if you can)! Once you find a route you want to try, you’ll scan the barcode – then attempt the climb! If you send it first time, press ‘tick’ and you can put down ‘one try’ – if it takes you a few more attempts, that’s ok! Just put in how many attempts it takes you! And if you can’t climb it, that’s no worry either, you can pop it how many tries you had but don’t tick it if you didn’t complete it! Then, move on to the next route, until you’ve had a go at all the routes in the centre! You don’t have to do them all in one go either, if you need a coffee or pizza inbetween, then we’re not stopping you! Enjoy the whole day! Once you’ve finished you can take a chill or do some more climbing! Make sure you hang around for us to announce who will be in our Live Finals (because it could be you!)
Finalist Announcement – 5:30pm! Top 3 from each category will make it into the finals!
Finals – 6pm – 8pm
These live finals will include UNSEEN routes on NEW holds! So what will happen if you get to the finals? Finalists will be taken to a private room and then the routes will be revealed to the audience! (Everyone will be invited to spectate, and it’s free to watch, so you can bring you friends and family!) One by one, category winners will be invited to climb in front of a friendly crowd of spectators, judges and commentators who will score them!
There will be live commentary and of course, it wouldn’t be complete without some amazing tunes from a DJ! Spectators will be able to enjoy a beer and some food throughout the finals too (and of course, finalist will enjoy a beer after their climb!)
Prize giving will commence from 8pm, when everyone can enjoy food, beer and prizes!
